Coreopsis tinctoria, Plains Coreopsis Seed Balls

Yellow composite flowers with a deep burgundy center are a cheerful and attractive to pollinators. Prefers well-draining soils and some moisture. Once established it can be somewhat drought tolerant.

Cultural History

The blossoms were used to make a deep red dye by the Zuni people, hence the Latin name tictoria.
