Asclepias sullivantii, Prairie Milkweed Seed Balls

  • 2995

This elegant plant dons large umbels of deep pink to pinkish white flowers and is compact in comparison to common milkweed, reaching 2-3 feet tall. It is found in moist prairies. It comes to fruit in July, earlier than other milkweeds in the northern prairies. Prairie Milkweed is a less aggressive plant than Common Milkweed, although it is similar in appearance. Its leaves have fewer hairs, but the blossoms are quite similar and the Monarchs love them!

Package contains 20 seed balls.

A note about seed balls:
Seed balls, also known as seed bombs, protect the seeds from erosion, foraging, and many other factors. This protective property often results in a slower germination cycle. Wildflowers are also highly variable in their germination rates. Please be patient with your seed balls. If you placed them in a suitable location, soil, and climate, when the seeds are ready, they will grow!
